Sand Bags Available

The local forecast is calling for possible flooding in low-lying areas.

The Lyons Rural Fire District, along with Knife River and Pacific Sanitation, are providing free sand bags for area residents. Sand and bags are available on the corner of Main and 12th streets to the east of the fire station, 1114 Main St., Lyons.

Please bring your own shovel and make sure to close the lid to the receptacle holding the empty bags.

Air Now Fire and Smoke Map

The Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Forest Service AirNow Fire and Smoke Map provides near- and real-time information to enhance awareness of air quality hazards from wildfire smoke. The Fire and Smoke Map is also mobile-friendly for people who visit AirNow.gov from a smartphone or tablet.
